Nebraska's Tuberculous Hospital

In early 20th Century a small home in Kearney became an important hospital to treat Tuberculosis. An infectious lung disease easily spread with a cough or a sneeze, an alarming number of people fell ill. The state of Nebraska realized the best way to combat the epidemic was to treat those stricken and in 1911 the legislature passed a bill that created the Nebraska Hospital for the Tuberculous.
