Exploring Nebraska

Return of the Swan

They were nearly hunted to extinction in the early 20th Century, but today the largest waterfowl species in the world is once again thriving in the Sandhills - the trumpeter swan. Meet the researchers who worked tirelessly to protect these magnificent birds and their habitat, the ranchers who coexist on the land with them, and a photographer whose love for this species emanates through his breathtaking images.
