She was an artist in her own right, but set her brushes aside when she married illustrator Reynold Brown and raised their happy family of eight children. When the couple moved to northwest Nebraska in their retirement years, the scenic beauty of the Pine Ridge country inspired Mary Tejada Brown to begin painting again just as she learned she was losing her vision.
